Making the PC look like a Mac? Must run like a cow - all that extra animation stuff.
The dock I'm using now, ObjectDock doesn't actually take up that much memory - about 6K of RAM.
I put on it shortcuts for the programmes and folders I need, there's even a Start button on it and a clock, et voila! My task bar becomes (largely) redundant.
